John 19:31-37 |
|
Jesus is Dead! |
|
|
The Jews did not want bodies
left on the crosses during the Sabbath. |
|
They asked
Pilate to have legs broken and the bodies taken down. |
|
|
When they came to Jesus and found
he was already dead.
They
did not break his legs.
This is the fulfillment of Psalms 34:20.
|
|
So, they pierced the side of Jesus
with a spear.
It caused a sudden flow of blood and
water.
Because of this the soldiers knew Jesus was
dead.
This is a fulfillment of Zechariah 12:10. |

|
The Witness! |
|
He gave his testimony, and his
testimony was true. He testified
so readers would believe.
Since John was at the foot of the cross, it makes sense
that he was the eye-witness.
